π€ Google DeepMind Unveils AGI Tier List
Source: VentureBeat
DeepMind's AGI tier list categorizes AI capabilities, highlighting advancements.
Key Takeaways:
Google DeepMind's AGI tier list from Emerging (Level 1) to Superhuman (Level 5).
Level 1 AGI includes AI like ChatGPT; Level 2 matches average skills.
Level 3 and 4 AGIs demonstrate expert and virtuoso capabilities.
Level 5 AGI, Superhuman, exemplified by AI like AlphaFold.
Why it matters: This tier list by DeepMind signifies a major stride in AI development, offering a framework to understand and predict AI's trajectory.
Our POV: The Chief AGI scientist of Google DeepMind, Shane Legg, is one of the authors. He recently said he believes there is a 50% chance AGI will exist within 5 years.
Let's have realistic views on AI progress. Systems like GPT-4 have come far, but still lack basic human capabilities that even average adults exhibit - like logical reasoning and conversational memory. Achieving general intelligence that exceeds most adults across domains remains highly complex. Current AI excels at narrow tasks, not broad competency. While defining AI levels helps set expectations, the hype about human-parity AI emerging in just 5 years seems unrealistic. Steady advancements continue, but matching diverse human skills is still distant. Tempering predictions avoid disillusionment down the road.

βοΈ Tutorial: Craft an AI Assistant with OpenAI in 2 Minutes
Step 1: Sign Up for OpenAI and Access Assistants Platform
Create an OpenAI Account: Go to OpenAI and sign up.
Access the Assistants Platform: Navigate to the Assistants section on OpenAIβs platform.
Step 2: Create an Assistant
In this example, we're creating an Assistant that is an Epidemiology and Disease Management Specialist, with the Code Interpreter and Retrieval tool enabled:
An Assistant is a configurable entity designed to interact with user messages. This configuration can be tailored using several parameters:
Instructions: Guidelines defining the Assistant's behavior and response style.
Model Selection: You have the option to choose from various GPT-3.5 or GPT-4 models, including those that are fine-tuned. For the Retrieval tool, specifically, you must use either the
gpt-3.5-turbo-1106
orgpt-4-1106-preview
models.Tools: The API includes built-in tools like Code Interpreter and Retrieval, developed and maintained by OpenAI.
Upload files: upload pertinent files to provide the AI Assistant with sufficient information to address your inquiries accurately.
These are some format files uploaded into the platform, check full the list here.
Custom Functions: You can create custom function signatures, which work similarly to OpenAI's function calling feature, allowing for tailored functionalities within the API.
β Code Interpreter enables the assistant to write and run code. This tool can process files with diverse data and formatting, and generate files such as graphs.
β Retrieval enhances the assistant with information from uploaded files, automatically responding to user requests after file upload.
When you complete it, you will have a display like the below picture.
Step 2: Create and add the Message to a Thread
Click the Playground button on the right sidebar to initiate a new Thread.
A Thread serves as a conversation, and we advise creating one per user at the start of the interaction. Utilize Messages within the Thread to pass user-specific context and files.
Threads are unrestricted by size; you can transmit an abundance of Messages within a Thread. The API adeptly handles requests to the model, guaranteeing compliance with the maximum context window by employing optimization techniques such as truncation.
A Message contains the user's text, and optionally, any files that the user uploads. Image files aren't supported today, but OpenAI plans to add support for them in the coming months.
Step 4: Run the Assistant
For the Assistant to respond to the user message, you need to create a Run. This makes the Assistant read the Thread and decide whether to call tools or simply use the model to best answer the user query. As the run progresses, the assistant appends Messages to the thread with the role="assistant"
.
You can optionally pass additional instructions to the Assistant while creating the Run:
run = client.beta.threads.runs.create
(
thread_id=thread.id,
assistant_id=assistant.id,
instructions="Please address the user as AI FIRE. The user has a premium account."
)
Step 5: Display the Assistant's Response
π― A Prompt to Clone Your Writing Style
Step 1: Gather Your Writing Collect examples of your writing like articles or emails. Choose those that show your unique style.
Step 2: Use this specific prompt that instructs ChatGPT to mimic your style.
You are an expert ghostwriter. Iβm going to provide you with my own written material, and your task will be to understand and mimic its style. You'll start this exercise by saying "BEGIN.β After, I'll present an example text, to which you'll respond, "CONTINUE".
The process will continue similarly with another piece of writing and then with further examples. I'll give you unlimited examples. Your response will only be "CONTINUE.β You're only permitted to change your response when I tell you "FINISHED".
After this, you'll explore and understand the tone, style, and characteristics of my writing based on the samples I've given. Finally, I'll prompt you to craft a new piece of writing on a specified topic, emulating my distinctive writing style.
Start by typing "BEGIN" and add a sample of your writing. After ChatGPT responds with "CONTINUE," add different samples. Once you've given enough examples, type "FINISHED.
Step 3: Input Your Writing Samples Type "begin" and paste your writing into ChatGPT. After each "CONTINUE" response, add more samples. Use at least four for better accuracy.
Step 4: Complete the Process After adding enough examples, type "FINISH" to end this step.
Step 5: Name Your Writing Style Give your unique style a name, like βThe Rundown Style.β This makes it easy to refer to your style later."
