Introduction: What if you could post on X without... actually posting?

Yep — no more stopping mid-coffee to tweet. No more "Oops, I forgot to post today". Effortless, AI-powered automation that works while you relax.

That’s the magic of combining Make.com’s powerful tools — like having your own social media assistant. The best part? You don’t need to be a tech wizard to set this up. It’s simple, smart and saves you hours every week.

Make.com is a powerful automation platform that connects apps and services to streamline workflows without coding.

So if you’ve ever wished your X posts could just "handle themselves" while you focus on building your brand (or you know... finally finish that latte), you're in for a treat.

By the end of this guide, you'll have a fully automated system to post on X, so you can focus on what you do best: creating amazing content.

Step 1: Create a New Google Sheets for Your Posts

First, you need a place for AI to pull data from. So Google Sheets is the best option, it’s easy to use and can connect to Make without any problem.

  • Open Google Sheets.

  • Create a new sheet and label columns for your content. Here’s my best recommendation for this setup — you can track your daily content and see which posts have already been published. There are 6 columns:

    • Twitter Post: This is where you write your caption.

    • Post type: So AI can choose the best way to post it.

    • Image Link, Video Link: To link your image and video in Google Drive.

  • ImageLinkID, VideoLinkID: so AI can find your exact type of content to post for you. To do that, use this formula below. (Based on your Sheet, you need to change “,” into “;”).

=IFERROR(REGEXEXTRACT(C3;"file/d/([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)");"")

  • Add a few sample rows to test your setup like this:

Step 2: Log in to X Development for Automate

Make.com can’t read personal profiles on X — only through X Development. So that’s why we need to sign in X Development to allow developers to automate posts, collect data, monitor brand mentions and integrate X with other tools for smarter, faster interactions.

  • Sign in with your X account.

log-in-to-x-development
  • In developer agreement & policy, you need to describe your API use case — Enter details about how you intend to use the data (e.g., trend analysis, automated posting, research). In simple terms, API (Application Programming Interface) allows different software applications to communicate and share data with each other.

  • Once it's done, get your API keys and tokens by setting up your project in "Project & Apps.". Follow each step in these images below:

  • Before you get your API Keys, you’ll need to connect X development with Make.com by copy Redirect URL here, and then paste in App info in X. Let me copy that link and put it below.

  • OK, now you have your Client ID, Client Secret, API Key and Secret. Keep them safe — we'll need these important keys soon.

  • Pro tip: Keep these keys secure! They’re like your account password for automated access.

Step 3: Create a New Folder in Google Drive Linked to X

Once Make.com can pull your captions, you'll also need a place for images and videos. Google Drive is perfect for that.

  • Open Google Drive.

  • Create a new folder and name it.

  • Add the videos or images you want to post on X

Step 4: Combine All in Make.com

We have captions, images, videos and texts. So how can we automate posting all of this to X?

The answer is Make.com, this platform allows users to connect apps, design processes and create custom automations visually.

  • Log into Make.com.

  • Click on Create a new scenario.

  • Add 4 main modules: Google Sheet, Router, Google Drive and X.

The image below is the final result. For detailed steps, please follow the instructions below.

1. Add Google Sheet in Make.com

  • Click the + button to add your first module - choose Google Sheet.

  • Connect your Google account and select the Google Sheet you created.

  • Set it to watch for new rows — each new row will trigger a post.

  • You need to fill out the Spreadsheet ID correctly; the others are set to default.

2. Automatically Text Posting in X

  • Add the X (Twitter) module in Make.com.

  • Select "Create a Tweet" as the action.

  • Then add your X account in Connection name.

  • Map your Google Sheet columns to the tweet fields (like "Post Text" to the tweet content).

  • Test the scenario to make sure a post is created on X.

3. Automatically Image and Video Posting in X

To add image or video, we need Google Drive module.

  • Add the Google Drive module.

  • Choose action “Download a file”, it will automatically download your images or videos in your drive to upload it in X.

Oh no! We have a small problem — the new X module doesn’t allow us to post media. That means we can’t post images or videos the usual way.

Let me show you how to fix this.

  • You still add X module like usual.

  • In the top right corner, switch from v6 to v5. This version allows media posting — funny, right?

  • Now we do the same thing like X module above.

  • For image posts, choose “Image or GIF” and for video posts, choose “Video or GIF”.

  • We have 3 types of media. So we need to add filter to run it correctly.

  • The last step is to test the scenario to make sure a post is created on X.

  • Pro tip: Set your scenario to run on a schedule — daily, hourly or whatever fits your posting plan.

This image below is my final test, my example is for fun so ignore that.

Conclusion

And just like that, you’ve built an automated system that posts to X while you’re off doing more important things (or absolutely nothing at all).

So why keep posting manually? Set up your AI-powered X automation today with Make.com and free yourself from the daily posting grind.
