🤖 Amazon Announces Its Own Set of Nova AI Models
Amazon Nova, a new generation of foundation models (FMs), includes 6 versions: Micro, Lite, Pro, Premier, Canvas, and Reels.
Key takeaways:
Multilingual and Multi-Modal Support: Supports tasks across 200 languages and multiple modalities (text, images, videos).
Cost-Effective: Amazon Nova Micro, Lite, and Pro are at least 75% less expensive than the best-performing models in their respective intelligence classes in Amazon Bedrock.
Easy Experimentation: Customers can easily experiment with and evaluate Amazon Nova models through Amazon Bedrock’s single API.
Custom Fine-Tuning: Supports custom fine-tuning using proprietary data to boost accuracy by tailoring models to specific customer needs.
Data-Driven Learning: The model learns from the customer’s labeled proprietary data (including text, images, videos) for improved accuracy.
Why it matters: Nova is competitive with top models like GPT-4 on standard benchmarks. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy also hinted at two upcoming models for next year: a speech-to-speech model and an "any to any" model, as part of the Nova initiative.
With Nova and other projects, Amazon aims to strengthen its position in the cloud market. The company currently leads Microsoft and Google with a 31% share of the cloud infrastructure market, according to Synergy Research Group.
