Introduction
Let me ask you this: have you thought about how short AI videos (I’ll call it “video” from now) can transform your business? Videos are one of the easiest ways to grab attention, build a connection, and grow your audience, all in just a few seconds. And when you pair them with AI, the process gets even smarter and more effective.
I’ve seen how small businesses, just like ours, use videos to showcase products, share stories, and even go viral. With AI tools, you can speed things up, whether it’s writing scripts, generating ideas, or editing videos. AI makes it easy to focus on the fun, creative side while handling the technical parts for you.
In this post, I’ll walk you through how to use short videos and AI to grow your business. We’ll cover everything from tested video content to analyzing results and fixing common mistakes. Maybe you’re just starting or looking to level up, this guide will make sure you’re ready to use shorts (and AI) as your secret weapon. Let’s get started!
I. Proven Video Ideas For Small Businesses
So, you’ve got your small business up and running, and your social account is set up. You know that videos can be a great way to promote your products and connect with customers, but you’re still unsure about what type of videos to post. Well, we’ve got good news for you, this section is all about helping you figure that out!
The most important thing when creating shorts for your business is to keep it light. What we mean by this is don’t make it feel too commercial.
=> Over the years, online audiences have become skeptical of overly polished, high-budget videos. They can tell when they’re being hit with a sales pitch, and they don’t want to feel like they’re being sold to. If your content feels too commercial, they’ll just scroll past it.
Instead, focus on making your shorts authentic and relatable. People want to connect with real, down-to-earth content. Keep the production simple and natural, this way, you’re more likely to engage your audience and build genuine connections.
BUT, you can still show off your products and share important facts and benefits, but don’t overcomplicate things. For example, students from our course have a business where they provide latest Crypto news, trends, statistics, anticipations, and more. They created one super simple video, no complicated concept, nothing fancy. It probably only took them a few seconds to create => yet they got over 1 million views. Isn’t that crazy?
Of course, there’s no guarantee that this will happen for everyone, but the point here is that the key is to create something simple and relatable.
Now, here are some great ideas and concepts for your next business short videos:
1. Show Off Your Products and Highlight Your Best Sellers
This goes without saying, but you absolutely can and should use your videos to show off your products. Whether it's physical products, like this example here, , like this one you’re reading, or services that you offer, showcasing them in your videos is a great way to promote your business.
If you directly tag your products in your videos, like we did here for another course named , it makes it easy for your viewers to buy your product with just a few taps. They can access all the product info they need without leaving the website, plus they can see what else you offer.
Of course, you don’t need to tag your products in every video, as it could start to feel too salesy. But every now and then, it's a great way to drive sales and make it easy for your audience to shop!
When you want to highlight a certain product, maybe it’s a best-seller or something that’s not selling as well, tagging it in your video is a great strategy to boost visibility and sales. This feature is particularly useful when you want to drive attention to a specific item.
In addition to showcasing your products and services, you can also dedicate some videos to your best-sellers. Show off the products that are performing well to help drive even more sales and conversions. Displaying what other people love creates a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) among your audience.
A fun way to do this is through an “expectation vs. reality” format, like a Small Business Edition. For example, you could first show the product you thought would be your best-seller, followed by the one that actually turned out to be the top seller. Then, you can share the product you thought was a great idea, but in reality, turned out to be a bit of a mess.
This not only highlights your products but also brings personality and relatability to your business, encouraging engagement from your audience.
2. Behind the Scenes
Next, you can show behind-the-scenes content. People love getting an insider look into how you create your orders, prepare for a job, or what your workplace looks like. When you take your audience through the process of how something is made from start to finish it gives them a greater appreciation for your product and the effort that goes into it. This makes them more likely to justify paying for it.
Behind-the-scenes content also humanizes your brand, adding personality and relatability, which audiences connect with. Here are some great examples from small business owners:
“Would you buy these?” – Show behind the scenes of creating your products and ask your audience for feedback.
“Make or prepare an order with me” – This type of content follows the process of preparing a specific order from start to finish. The creator even mentions the name of the customer, which makes it feel more personal.
This approach makes the audience feel involved in the process and builds a connection with your brand. It’s an effective way to show the effort behind your products and make your audience feel more invested in what you’re doing.
Another idea is to show the making of your product. While this might seem obvious or even boring to you, for someone without experience in your space, seeing the entire process can be fascinating. Plus, it’s an opportunity to educate your audience while showcasing the effort that goes into creating your products.
3. Unboxing Videos
You could also do this in reverse by showing an unboxing of your product. For some online AI courses like us, we show the entire outline of each course, like we’re opening it. This lets our customers see our product from their perspective, giving them a glimpse into the experience they will have when they receive it.
=> The more you can immerse them in that moment, the easier it will be for them to visualize themselves as your customer. Videos featuring unboxing are a great way to build excitement around your business and what you offer.
When using unboxing videos, be sure to get some close-up shots to highlight all the details of your product. This allows your audience to see the quality of your items up close. You could even turn this into an ASMR video by emphasizing the sounds of unpacking, which adds an extra sensory element that viewers love.
Of course, things don’t always go as planned and that’s okay! In fact, it can make for great content that humanizes your brand. For example, you could create a short video about a complicated order where you had to go above and beyond to get it to your customer on time, or show how the result didn’t turn out as expected.
You could even highlight a mistake you made. Don’t worry about seeming unprofessional, people will appreciate your honesty and might even offer helpful solutions. So don’t hesitate to share these real moments!
The most important part of your business? YOU. People want to know about the person behind the brand. We all have to start somewhere, so share your story, what made you get into this business, your journey, and what inspires you. It’s a great way to build a relationship with your audience and show your authentic self. Look at AI Fire’s CEO story:
The more your audience sees you, the more they’ll relate to you and, in turn, to your business. Showing your face builds trust, and trust is a key factor in getting people to buy from you.
But, if you don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera just yet, don’t worry, there are ways around it. For example, you can use text overlays or voiceovers in the previous part I told you, or if you don’t want to speak at all, you can use the text-to-speech function.
The most important thing is to do what works best for you while keeping your content engaging. Just make sure you're authentic and connect with your audience in a way that feels right for you.
5. Business Evolution & Team Introduction
Not only do people care about your story, but they also care about your business evolution. Every business starts somewhere, and along the way, you learn a lot. It’s inspiring for people to see how a business has grown over time. Look for older videos from when you first started, or if you’re just starting now, make sure to capture the process from the beginning. Then, take a few shots of where your business is now or in the future.
This works great as a business glow-up story, which can be truly inspirational for viewers who want to achieve similar success. Sharing this journey will help you gather more support for your business because your audience will appreciate your brand even more once they understand the challenges and progress you've made, like this:
Now that you've shown your products, services, workspace, and shared your story, why not also show your team? Don’t forget to introduce the people behind your business. It’s a common trend on all platforms right now to go around the office and introduce different team members. Showing what each person does and how they work together to create the finished product gives your audience a deeper connection to your brand.
People love seeing the backstory behind the products they buy, and that includes the people who help bring them to life. When we posted a behind-the-scenes look at our AI Fire team, we received great feedback from our followers, they were excited to finally see who is working with us.
You can show your team in many different ways: do a Q&A with them, share how different people dress based on their position, or show when they arrive at the office. It’s all about being creative and authentic. If you don’t have a team yet, don’t worry!
6. Educational Videos
Everyone loves a good hack, and education is another great way to create short videos. It's savable content that people will come back to later. To make it work, start with a strong hook to grab the attention of your target audience, then show them something they can use in their own life.
If you have something to teach, go for it! Share your knowledge about a specific topic in your niche, and your audience will thank you for it. For example, if you make and sell AI products like AI Fire, show your audience how you create the courses for them. If you sell jewelry, demonstrate how to style your necklaces with different outfits. Or, if you bake wedding cakes, share how you get them to stack without tipping over. You could even offer general tips you've learned as a small business owner. Educational content like this is incredibly valuable and shareable.
7. User-Generated Content and Testimonials
Another great type of video for your business is user-generated content (UGC) or testimonials. These are fantastic for building social proof and offering real value to your followers. It doesn’t matter how big or small your business is, customer feedback is always a great asset.
You can showcase real customers using and enjoying your products or services. Videos like these can be the perfect trigger for your audience to finally click "buy" and make a purchase. Just remember to always ask for permission before using your customer’s content or feedback for your business.
Another great strategy is influencer marketing. Allow influencers or content creators to create content for you, which they can post on their own pages or in collaboration with you. For example, we did this for AI Fire Academy in general.
This is an excellent way to generate authentic content and reach a much larger audience, helping you build trust and drive more sales for your business.
8. Trends
Lastly, we have trends. This is a big one! As a business owner, you definitely want to stay on top of the latest trends. But that doesn’t mean you need to jump on every trend that comes your way, only the ones that are relevant to your business. For example, this clothing brand did it perfectly by jumping on a trend that aligned with their products. It’s a great way to leverage the algorithm and get seen by more people, especially when you catch a trend early.
Make sure to use a trending song or concept for your videos. Just keep in mind, if you have a business account, you might not have access to all songs due to copyright issues.
As you create more content, you’ll start to notice what resonates most with your audience, what gets the most likes, views, shares, and saves. Pay attention to these metrics. Based on them, you'll get a clear idea of what type of content works best for your brand. Also, keep an eye on the comments, sometimes the questions or feedback in the comments can give you the perfect idea for your next video. Taking a deep look at this will help you refine your content strategy and keep delivering what your audience loves.
9. QR Code Feature on Instagram
Before we wrap up this section, there’s one more feature we want to discuss. It’s a relatively new tool, and while we haven’t seen many people using it yet, we think it has great potential, especially for small businesses.
Once you post your videos, if you click on the three dots in the top right corner, you'll see an option to create a QR code for that specific Reel (just on Instagram).
At first, we weren’t sure how to make use of it, especially since Instagram didn’t announce it widely. But after thinking it through, we came up with a pretty cool idea.
For example, let’s say you sell clothing that requires special care. Instead of leaving a long explanation on the tag, you could create a Reel that shows the care instructions in a creative way. Then, add the QR code to the tag. When customers scan it, they’ll land on your Instagram account where they can view the Reel and learn how to properly care for their new clothing. Not only does this provide value to your customer, but it also drives traffic to your page, where they might explore more content, engage with you, or even find something else they like.
This doesn’t have to be limited to care instructions. You could create a Reel that shows how to style or wear specific pieces of clothing, jewelry, or accessories in different ways, or anything that adds value to your customers. The possibilities are endless!
If you have a digital product, like AI products, you can use the QR code in your purchase confirmation email, linking to a Reel that shows how to download and apply the presets. It’s a great way to get more traffic to your page while offering your customers extra value.
Even though not many people are using this tool yet, we believe it has a lot of potential, so don’t miss out on it. There are so many ways you can make use of it.
II. What to Do When Your Video Went Viral
So, your video has gone viral, your hard work has paid off, and you've reached the visibility you were aiming for, amazing! But what comes next? How can you ensure you make the most of this reach and turn all these new visitors into actual followers? At the end of the day, you want to grow your account with your videos, so what steps do you need to take?
In this section, we'll answer all these questions, but before we dive into what you should do after going viral, let's first define what it means to go viral.
Going viral looks different for everyone depending on the size of your account, so it’s important to know what "going viral" means for your specific situation.
For example, if your account has 1,000 followers, and your short gets 30,000 to 50,000 views, that’s considered going viral for your account. This means you’ve reached 30 to 50 times your following size.
On the other hand, if you have 250,000 followers and your video gets 50,000 views, it’s still good, but it wouldn't be considered viral for an account of that size. It’s important to set realistic expectations based on your follower count so that you can measure your success properly.
One thing to keep in mind is that the more followers you have, the harder it becomes to get views that are many times the size of your following.
For example, with a little over 73,000 followers in AI Mastery page, it’s unlikely that we would get 50 times our follower count in views. In our case, if a post gets 20 to 25 times the size of our following, we consider that viral.
Now that you know what it means to go viral, let's talk about what you should do once your video has gone viral. Of course, there are the obvious things you’ve already learned in this playbook, like responding to all your comments and engaging with your community.
1. Engage with Potential Customers
We know it can feel intimidating, especially when you receive a lot of comments after a viral video.
=> But we highly suggest taking the time to respond to as many people as possible. When your audience sees that you genuinely care about engaging with them, they will really appreciate it, and that could be the reason they end up following you.
2. See Video’s Insights
You’ll also want to analyze your numbers and see what made your video go viral in the first place. This helps you understand what worked and allows you to create more of that type of content going forward. But there’s one more important thing we haven't mentioned yet: the strategy for your follow-up post.
When you see that your video is going viral, what should you post next to keep the momentum going? Does it even matter? Adam actually has a strategy for this, so it’s best to hear it from him:
=> When you create videos for a while, you start to get a sense of what works and what doesn’t. When planning a new video, you can usually tell if it has the potential to go viral or not. Of course, there’s never a guarantee, and sometimes a video you didn’t expect to go viral can blow up. But often, you can feel whether a video has great potential.
3. Follow-up post
I usually post another video with potential about 8 hours later, best within 24 hours. This creates a kind of snowball effect. You’re using the momentum of one viral video to push the next one, driving even more traffic to your page. In other words, you're taking advantage of the traffic from your viral content to help boost your next post.
Now that you have a lot of new traffic coming to your page, there are two things that can happen: your visitors will either decide to follow you, or they’ll move on. So, what can you do to convert all these new visitors into followers? There are several factors you’ll need to consider:
4. Optimize Your Page
Think of your page like a landing page for a product. When visitors land on your page after viewing your short, you want to make a great first impression and convince them that your content is worth following.
Let’s start with your profile picture. Your profile picture is the first thing people see when they visit your page, and it can instantly tell them what your brand is all about if done right. You want to make sure your profile picture gives a clear message and a great first impression. If you're a brand or business, consider using your logo. If it’s too detailed, you might want to simplify it for better recognition, as your logo will appear every time someone visits your page.
If you're a creator, we suggest using a photo of yourself that represents your niche or aesthetic. For example, Adam’s profile picture shows him in a bright white shirt, which matches his friendly personality. If he were using a picture of himself in a serious black suit, it wouldn't convey the same vibe. So, choosing the right profile picture is a great way to introduce yourself and show people who you are without saying a word.
Next, let’s talk about your bio. If you have a personal or creator account, your bio should clearly tell people who you are, what you do, what they can get from you, and how to get it like Adam did. If you're using a page for a business, you want your bio to make a strong first impression on potential customers and clearly describe the product or service you offer.
Make sure to use the space in your bio wisely and think about what to include. While your new viewers are already on your page, it’s important to make it clear right away what you’re all about. Even though it’s not always searchable, it can still be helpful for those who visit your profile.
Now, the next part is where you need to get creative and tactical. The text in your bio should be short, concise, and straight to the point, ideally three lines or less. People usually spend just a few seconds on your page, so you need to make sure they can quickly understand who you are and what you offer.
Our advice is to clearly describe what you do and the value you bring to your audience. The more specific you are, the better. Start with the most important facts and use targeted keywords to make it clear what your audience can expect from your content. This will help attract the right followers who are interested in what you have to offer.
Note: You can also use emojis if they fit your branding. Emojis can make your bio more visually appealing and help convey information quickly.
You might also consider adding a call-to-action (CTA) to your bio. For example:
In the fashion niche, you could write: “Follow for cool outfit inspo and casual fits.”
In the food niche, you could say: “Follow for daily healthy recipes.”
In the fitness niche, try: “Don’t forget to work out with me today!”
Good CTAs can start with phrases like “Check out,” “Don’t miss,” or “Head over to.” If you’re a business, you could tell your audience to check out the link in your bio or visit your website or special sale.
Let’s move on to the next important thing that will help you convert your visitors into followers: your stories and highlights.
If you notice that one of your videos or posts is going viral, make sure you’re active on your stories. In general, you should aim to show up daily on your stories, but especially when you’re getting a lot of traffic to your page. This is key because the first thing people often do when they come across a new account is to check out the stories.
Use your stories to reintroduce yourself and tell people what you're all about. You can do a Q&A and allow people to ask you questions they’re curious about. This gives them insight into who you are, your personality, and the type of content you usually share. Being active on your stories can help build a stronger connection with your audience, which can increase your chances of turning them into followers.
Another important thing to keep in mind is updating your highlights. Your highlights are a great way to showcase your best content, and you want to make sure your most important collections are in the first five bubbles since these are the ones that show up without needing to scroll.
One highlight should definitely be about you: tell your story and share interesting facts to help people get to know you better. This should always be in the front, so it’s the first thing people see when they visit your profile. To make sure it stays in the front, you can add a new slide to that highlight, and even if you remove it later, the slide will still stay at the front.
Another great highlight could be mentions or news about you, such as any features or collaborations you’ve done. This helps give your profile more credibility and shows that you’ve been recognized by others.
Once you've taken care of these technical aspects, the rest comes down to your overall content. Over time, you should aim to make your account and grid visually appealing and stick to a consistent aesthetic. As mentioned in earlier chapters, it’s also crucial to stay true to your niche, so your audience knows what kind of content to expect.
If possible, include series in your account. This encourages people to keep coming back for more, which can eventually lead them to press the follow button. Like the AI Mastermind Challenge League of AI Fire:
Converting visitors into followers takes time. We've seen people experience a dramatic increase in followers overnight, but that's not the norm. Be patient, stay consistent, and you’ll see results over time. It’s also common to lose followers occasionally, especially if you've gained a lot at once. People’s interests change, or they may realize your account doesn’t meet their expectations. That’s okay! It’s better to lose followers who aren’t engaging with your content, as they can negatively affect your engagement.
III. Reasons Why Your Videos Aren't Getting Any Views
Everyone knows someone that got lucky with short AI videos - as soon as they started their account and posted videos consistently, their views and engagement simply exploded! You might be wondering why that hasn’t happened to you yet, right?
Even though short videos are fantastic for growth and driving high engagement, it doesn’t mean you’ll see immediate results. While it can happen, it’s usually a gradual process. If you've been posting videos for a few weeks and checked your insights, only to find that your reach and engagement aren’t where you’d like them to be, don't worry, you're not alone.
This section is here to help you. We’re going to share some common reasons why your videos might not be getting views, so you can adjust and get better results moving forward. Here's what might be affecting your videos' performance:
Value of Your Content: First, ask yourself what value your video gives to the viewer. Is it entertaining, educational, or inspirational? If you can’t answer this, it’s clear why your video isn’t performing well. Go back and review what value you want to provide and make sure your content delivers that.
Blurry Video Quality: Your videos should have good resolution and lighting. You don’t need professional equipment, but lighting plays a big role in how your content looks. Bad lighting or blurry videos will turn viewers off. But within this playbook, we use AI tools to create videos, so make sure to use at least 1080p when exporting videos.
No Hook in the First Seconds: You need to grab attention right away. If your video doesn’t have a strong hook within the first few seconds, people will swipe away. Keep the energy up and engage your viewers quickly.
Too Much Text: Avoid overwhelming viewers with long text on the screen. A few words or short sentences work best. If the screen is full of text, people will be less likely to read it, and they’ll move on.
Inconsistent Posting: Consistency is key. If you’re only posting occasionally, you can’t expect great results. We recommend posting once a day, especially when you're just starting out. This increases your chances of success.
Not Using Platform’s Tools: For example, Instagram offers several editing tools, such as trending songs, sound effects, voiceovers, and speech-to-text. Make sure you’re using these features to enhance your videos and keep them engaging.
Watermarks: If you save content from other platforms, like TikTok, make sure to remove any watermarks before posting on other social media. It will detect watermarks and may not push your content to the Explorer page if it’s there.
Political Content: Instagram and Facebook tend to moderate political content heavily, so avoid posting about politics if you want your videos to reach a wider audience.
Deleting Low-Performing Videos: Don’t delete your videos just because they didn’t perform well. Social media's algorithm can still push older content weeks after it's been posted. Deleting content might limit your chances of it getting discovered later.
Not Following Trends: Stay on top of trends! Trending songs or concepts can help you get more views, but don’t just copy others—add your unique spin to trends so that your content stands out.
Posting Multiple Topics: Stick to one niche. If you post about different topics in the same video, it may confuse your audience. Consistency in your niche is key to building a loyal following.
Patience: Success won’t happen in two weeks. Most of our AI videos only gain traction after a few weeks, so be patient and consistent. Set expectations accordingly and focus on long-term growth.
By analyzing your content, making adjustments, and staying consistent, you'll start to see improvement in your AI videos’ performance. Don’t forget, we’ve included a worksheet in the bonus material to help you review your lower-performing videos and refine your strategy.
Remember, creating AI videos is about having fun and being authentic. Keep experimenting with new transitions, strategies, and unique content, and enjoy the journey! We can't wait to see the results from your efforts.
Conclusion: Turn AI Shorts Into Revenue
You’ve seen how powerful videos can be for growing your business, and when you add AI into the mix, the possibilities get even bigger. With the right tools and strategies, you can create shorts that not only grab attention but also turn viewers into loyal customers.
Remember, it’s not about getting everything perfect right away. Start small, experiment with different ideas, and learn from your videos Insights.
