AGI is the hot topic among tech leaders, with many claiming itā€™s closer than we think. The problem? No one can agree on what AGI actually isā€”let alone when it might become reality.

Writer RAG tool: build production-ready RAG apps in minutes

RAG in just a few lines of code? Weā€™ve launched a predefined RAG tool on our developer platform, making it easy to bring your data into a Knowledge Graph and interact with it with AI. With a single API call, writer LLMs will intelligently call the RAG tool to chat with your data.

Integrated into Writerā€™s full-stack platform, it eliminates the need for complex vendor RAG setups, making it quick to build scalable, highly accurate AI workflows just by passing a graph ID of your data as a parameter to your RAG tool.

AI INSIGHTS

šŸ¤– Deloitteā€™s State of Generative AI in the Enterprise Quarter 4 Report

generative-ai-enterprise-q4-deloitte-report

Organizations love the promise of Generative AI (GenAI), but scaling it? Thatā€™s a whole different ballgame. Most companies expect itā€™ll take 12 months or more to solve critical adoption barriers like governance, training, and workforce integration. Sound slow? It isā€”but itā€™s also realistic.

For context, hereā€™s what ā€œ12 months or moreā€ means in the corporate world:

  • Itā€™s twice as long as the average tenure of a startup CTO.

  • Just enough time for your favorite GenAI tool to go from hot new trend to ā€œeveryone uses it.ā€

  • The same timeframe it took to launch OpenAIā€™s GPT-4 after GPT-3.

And hereā€™s whatā€™s holding GenAI back:

  • Governance: 52% of respondents say itā€™ll take 1ā€“2 years to set up governance strategies.

  • Data Issues: 51% expect to resolve these in the same timeframe, but letā€™s be honestā€”data problems love to stick around.

  • Training: 44% think theyā€™ll get their workforce up to speed in under a year, butā€¦ good luck with that.

So, whatā€™s the plan for tackling these challenges? Deloitteā€™s respondents offered a few hints:

  1. Patience is a virtue: 76% of organizations said theyā€™d wait at least a year before scaling back on underperforming GenAI projects. Translation? Theyā€™re in it for the long haul.

  2. Focus on ROI: While adoption is slow, companies are laser-focused on proving GenAIā€™s value. Some are already seeing returns in cybersecurity, with 44% exceeding ROI expectations there.

Why does this matter? Because if your companyā€™s not already experimenting with GenAI, youā€™re falling behind. Organizations are running 20 or fewer experiments each, with 10ā€“30% expected to scale soon. Itā€™s like the early days of the internet: slow adoption now, massive impact later.

Why it matters: GenAI adoption might feel like watching paint dry, but once these barriers are cleared, the pace will pick up fast. And with buzzwords like Agentic AI (autonomous AI systems) making waves, the futureā€™s closer than you think.

In short, if youā€™re not planning for GenAI now, you might end up reading about your competitorsā€™ success in next yearā€™s Deloitte report. Donā€™t say we didnā€™t warn you.

AI CHART

ai-chart

While everyoneā€™s busy debating GPTā€™s latest trick or wondering when ChatGPT will start charging for coffee recommendations, thereā€™s a bigger trend quietly reshaping the way we choose businesses: AI-generated Google Reviews.

Turns out, the "authentic" review you just trusted might not be written by a person at all. Nearly 1 in 5 Google reviews in 2024 was AI-generated.

Hereā€™s the big picture:

  • From 2019 to 2024, AI-generated reviews skyrocketed by 279.2%.

  • In 2023, 12.21% of Google reviews were AI-generated. By 2024? 19%. Thatā€™s a near doubling in just one year.

  • To put it in perspective, 19% is close to the percentage of Americans who still use Facebook as their main news source. Scary, right?

So, Whatā€™s the Deal with AI Reviews?

On one hand, businesses are using AI to generate feedback faster and fill in gaps in their online presence. But on the other hand, if you canā€™t trust reviews, how do you pick a restaurant, choose a contractor, or book a hotel? And what happens when businesses misuse this tool to flood platforms with fake five-star reviews?

Human vs. AI: Whoā€™s Still Winning?

Thankfully, 81% of Google reviews in 2024 were still human-written. For now, humans hold the majority, and their feedback is seen as more authentic and relatable. But letā€™s be honestā€”AI is catching up. Itā€™s not hard to imagine a future where youā€™re reading glowing reviews written by a bot thatā€™s never tasted pasta.

The Bigger Picture: A 279% Leap in Five Years

In 2019, only 5.01% of Google reviews were AI-generated. Fast forward to 2024, and weā€™re looking at nearly 1 in 5 reviews. This isnā€™t just a trendā€”itā€™s a shift in how businesses and consumers interact online.

If AI-generated reviews keep growing at this pace, theyā€™ll soon be the norm rather than the exception. Thatā€™s great if it helps businesses streamline feedback, but itā€™s a nightmare for anyone who relies on reviews to make informed decisions.

What This Means for You (and Everyone Else)

For businesses, AI reviews can be a double-edged sword:

  • Pros: Theyā€™re fast, scalable, and consistent.

  • Cons: Overuse can backfire, eroding trust and even attracting scrutiny from platforms like Google.

For consumers, the rise of AI reviews introduces uncertainty. Can you tell which reviews are written by a person and which by a bot? If trust in reviews collapses, the entire feedback ecosystem could crumble.

The rise of AI in Google reviews is a reminder of how quickly things are changing. While 19% AI-generated reviews showcase the power of technology, the 81% human-written reviews underline the importance of authenticity.

For businesses, the challenge is clear: use AI responsibly to build trust, not break it. And for consumers? Maybe itā€™s time to read reviews with a bit more skepticismā€”or better yet
